Nasreen Akter was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 16 November 1973. She has obtained B.Sc. (Honours) in 1995 and M. Sc. in 1999 in Physics from the University of Dhaka. She has completed her M Phil in Atmospheric Physics in 2007 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Her teaching career commenced in BRAC University, Dhaka as a Lecturer. She served there for 02 years. Thereafter, she joined BUET on 01 December 2004 as lecturer. She became Assistant Professor on August 2007 and reassigned as Associate Professor on September 2013. She completed her Ph. D in the field of Meteorology from Nagoya University, Japan on 28 September 2010 .She is presently working on mesoscale and synoptic meteorology and numerical modeling.
